Moai statues under the morning sunlight!
中は
次シーズンの楮(こうぞ紙の原料)
もうこんなに大きくなっています。
このくらいの新芽や茎は柔らかく そして まだ背が低いので
うさぎが食べにきます。
そのため夜は袋をかけてまもります。
朝になると袋を外し太陽と風を浴びます。
鹿は楮(こうぞ)が成長してからでも先の柔らかいところを
食べにくるので 周りに見えるアミは鹿よけです。
鹿やうさぎに食べれられ続けると
株自体が弱ってやがてなくなります。
Inside of these plastic bags
grows Kozo (material of Kozo papers) for next paper making.
They have already grown this much.
Rabbits sneak in to eat these shoots and new stalks as they are soft and short in height.
I guard the plants by covering them with bags during the night.
In the morning, I take the bags off to let them have the sun and breeze.
Once Kozo grows bigger, deers eat the soft head of the stalks.
So the blue net you see in the background is to keep deers away.
If the stalks gets continuously eaten by rabbits or deers
the plant itself becomes weak and would disappear before long.
