Cantingスタートです。 Batik(バティック)は ろうけつ染め:のことです。cantingチャンティンは 写真の道具を使って ロウをつけていくことです。 実家では、おじいさんの兄弟がろうけつ染めの作家さんだったので、展覧会の前はうちの家でもみんなでろうけつ染めをしていました。 でも日本では、Cantingを使わないで 筆でロウを付けてました。 ジャワ島に来て 不思議な事に 、 物心ついた時から10歳くらいの記憶が蘇ってきました。面白いっす！
Started “canting”. Batik canting is a unique way to apply wax onto fabric as shown in the photo. My grandfather’s sister was a batik print artist. My family used to help her works before her exhibitions. In Japan, they use brushes to apply wax instead of tools like “canting” in Indonesia. It’s amazing how these detailed memories have been suddenly brought back since I came to Java.
