Last summer, Ozaki paper mill gave me some papers so that I could try, and I did.
It was a great honor that a papermaker directly gave me their papers.
Normally I was the one who would be interested in using.
I felt the paper directly with the ball of my finger. In Ozaki Paper Company, they use screens made with kaya (cogon grass or susuki grass), whereas usually screens are made with bamboo, and the whole family is involved in growing plants for raw material and living in the mountain, by placing their work among the plant, nature and water to produce sheets of plant fibers called papers.
I felt that these papers had come from such a place. Their papers are the environment of the place itself, and its people.
I dyed a paper made by somebody else for the first time in about 11 years.
It was interesting. yahman!
